WE RESTORED OUR UNIQUE LIGHT ART INSTALLATION ON KHORTYTSIA ISLAND

Especially for Zaporizhzhia City Day and Defenders' Day, we have created a new large-scale light art project called “Chronicles of Strength,” which draws on our roots, giving strength and hope for a bright present and honoring our soldiers who bravely defend every Ukrainian.

It is especially important and valuable to give this gift to Zaporizhzhia, a city that steadfastly and courageously withstands the Russian aggressor's attacks every day.

We are very grateful to Ivan Fedorov, Head of the Zaporizhzhia Regional State Administration, Regina Kharchenko, Secretary of the Zaporizhzhia City Council, the Khortytsia National Reserve, and Natalia Yemchenko, Communications Director at SCM, Metinvest, for making this project possible.

The idea for this art work came from Olga Navrotska and Alan Badoev and their wonderful cultural project Chronicles of Power, which Expolight partnered with.

The name of the installation, Chronicles of Power, is shared with the book, as it refers to a common narrative: our roots give us strength today and lead us into a future where light triumphs over darkness. It is this message that unites our projects.

Through the language of light, we have manifested in our artwork the inseparable connection between the past, present, and future, conveying this through images of the elements, historical figures, and artifacts. The main part is a manifestation of the key values of Ukrainians: freedom, love, and unity.

The mission of this artwork is simple yet infinitely important—to show that light always triumphs over darkness. And this light shone in Zaporizhzhia, a city that bravely withstands enemy attacks while continuing to create culture.
