" CROSS OF HEROES " - a memorial complex was opened on the second anniversary of the full-scale invasion

Today, on the second anniversary of the large-scale invasion of Ukraine by Russian troops, the memorial was officially unveiled at 15:00 in Vyshhorod (intersection of Naberezhna and Starosilska streets).

Vyshhorod was not chosen as the site of the memorial by chance, as it was on its hills that the invasion of the occupation forces was stopped and the first enemy helicopters were destroyed.

The "Cross of Heroes" was erected right after the Kyiv Dam at the entrance to Vyshhorod. It is in the same place where the Russian occupiers were stopped 2 years ago. The nearby trenches still remind us of this.

The opening on the anniversary of the full-scale invasion is symbolic. Together, we remember how many trials we have already passed and how resilient we are. It is important to keep the faith. 

We have been creating various installations for a long time, but the Heroes' Cross memorial is a special and responsible project where we developed not only the lighting but also the architectural part. This idea came to life thanks to the philanthropic support of the Father Titus Voynarovsky Foundation and the blessing of the Head of the UGCC, His Beatitude Sviatoslav, who also co-authored the idea together with Andriy Vavrysh, Oleksandr Horhan, and Taras Valakh.

We set ourselves an ambitious goal - to lay down a PRINCIPALLY NEW APPROACH to the creation of such places. 

Having gone through many creative brainstorms with the Kabluka Light & Digital Sculptures team, experiments in the office with shape and materials, and the production of 3D models, the Cross of Heroes memorial turned out to be very complex from both a technical and psychological point of view.

Based on the Cossack cross, a symbol of victory and protection, we manifested it in three directions, placing it both in the paving and through inversion in space. We also wanted it to be inscribed in a circle, so that a person could not only contemplate it from the outside, but also get INTO the middle of the cross from any four sides of the world.

Each of the visitors gets 

- into the middle of the CROSS;

- into the middle of the LIGHT;

- into the middle of the SOUND;

Around the Cross of Heroes, we have designed and manufactured special custom glass steles, where visitors can find not only brief information about the project, but also a QR code to get to the website dedicated to the memorial.

This project was created to honor our fallen heroes,

who bravely gave their lives defending our Ukraine.

And also to show respect for all our compatriots,

who continue to bear their cross and do their best for the country's future.
