A WHOLE ISLAND! A UNIQUE LIGHTING CONCEPT WITH A LIGHT GUIDE

It was a great pleasure to work on the lighting concept in collaboration with Nuevo Design for the popular tourist attraction Al Noor Island.

 

The island, located near Dubai, became our canvas for a unique project. For us, it was especially symbolic that the name of the island "Al Noor" translates from Arabic as "light."

 

The Al Noor complex is a place where nature and technology are harmoniously combined, creating a unique space for relaxation and entertainment. From magical light paths to interactive installations, turning an ordinary walk into an exciting journey.

Our team began with a detailed study of the island's landscape and architectural features. We developed concepts that not only illuminate but also interact with the environment, recreating all the beauty.

 

To draw attention to the island from the outside, we use a combination of optical effects, light control algorithms, and mechanical motion systems. To do this, we develop special custom glass filters for our projects, calculate the distance from the caustic laser, and create infinite combinatorics of light refraction inspired by the light effects in nature.

 

Inside the island itself, we have thought of many insta-features, including light tattoos that anyone can customize using our app; the Cactus Symphony, where a cactus garden seems to "breathe" light to soothing melodies; magical forest creatures that appear thanks to 3D mapping projections on trees; and much more.

It is very valuable to work on projects of such complexity—to think about how the place will live, how to engage people, and how to make something unique, not only using more than 20 years of experience with light but also looking for new ways and new technologies.

 

Of course, with so many complex elements in one place, you need to think about how it will all be configured and controlled. For this purpose, we always use our own software and the Expolight Cloud Control System. We spend a lot of time and money on its development, improvement, and evolution to meet our sophisticated needs, but it is the magic wand that helps us create magic
