About project

YOPO Tiki Bar on the third floor of a restaurant and entertainment complex in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic, is the space's centerpiece.

Its lighting emphasizes the concept based on Taino mythology and divides the room into two zones: a dynamic ‘party’ area with brighter light and a lounge space with soft, cozy lighting.

When the sliding pergola opens in the evening, the light smoothly switches from day to night mode.

The interior uses local materials, such as sandstone and fossilized coral, which interact with the light, emphasizing its texture.

The spiral staircase, made of concrete with interspersed shells, is lit so that each step becomes part of an emotional journey.

Particular attention was paid to the lighting of the ceiling above the bar, where palm leaf panels create a warm, cozy atmosphere, reflecting the cultural roots of Taino.
