About project
Together with architects, we hone the design based on their fundamental ideas, create the structure of the luminaires and design lighting solutions for them. Thus, while developing the overall lighting design of spaces, we also introduce glass-blowing elements and integrate them with lighting solutions into the overall light. This is how our two business areas - the lighting component of Expolight and the glass-blowing subsidiary brand Optical Metaphor - are intertwined.
Cotton and glass are very textured natural materials with diametrically different properties.
One of the pleasant aspects of our work is experimenting with such combinations of unusual materials, continuously searching for options with glass, studying its properties in different formats.
We made the shape of the glass domes for cotton irrational and irregular, combining it with real cotton branches. The light sources in each lamp are arranged in such a way that both the cotton inside and the space outside the lamp - tables and the common room - are illuminated. For a long time, we were looking for design options that would allow us to gracefully and invisibly integrate two light sources into such a transparent and light form.
