About the project

We designed and installed a chandelier in the lobby of the new modern business centre M8 in Kyiv. The spatial three-dimensional zigzag of infinity is the shape we designed, thus creating a correlation with the name of the business centre.

We chose the material of the elements, which was created flexibly by hand, experimented with the shape of a single module, its texture. And how it works when the installation itself was created to be revealed by light.

We designed a four-metre-long chandelier made of 370 glass modules and worked out the percentage of brightness and light intensity of each part in a nuanced way. We chose the lighting shades very carefully and repeatedly experimented with finding lamps with the right optics.

We spent more than a month developing the design and functionality of the modular elements. At first, we experimented a lot with the ideal glass shape, then cut off the excess and achieved a copper effect with pearlescence with the help of several additional firings of the element at a temperature of 570 degrees.

Each new glass and lighting project of our Optical Metaphor sub-brand is the result of a labour-intensive collaboration between designers, lighting engineers and glass blowers. We create an idea, produce the glass elements, assemble it into a single installation and integrate the light into it, conducting many experiments in our laboratory beforehand.
