About project

Designed and implemented spatial glass composition by the forces of our glass-blowing brand Expolight ArtGlass in the voluminous interior space of our media sculpture in the Chicago Cental House LCD

The cube in the Chicago Central House is the first permanent media sculpture in Ukraine and a great example of a combination of light technology and digital art.

Our main idea was to make modules that reveal glass in three different states: transparent, frosted and mirrored, to form a chaotic installation that shapes the space in many ways, and to further expand this space with mirrors.

A swirl of many beautiful elements rises to a height of 4.5 metres in seven rings.

The surface of each module is partly transparent with undulating ripples for spectacular light refraction and caustics, partly matte to receive light and reveal the shape, and partly mirrored to reflect light and create sonorous reflections. The ratio of these surface types is different and unique for each module. Together, they form a multi-level ring composition that interacts with light in different ways from different angles.

In parallel with the development of the modules, we were looking for a variant of the placement trajectories and the configuration of the modular vortices. We made mock-ups in search of shape, texture, proportions, experimented with light, modelled in 3D, and assembled prototypes. At the design stage, we developed the lighting part right away.

We approach each Expolight ArtGlass project comprehensively, investing as much as possible. This is how we create a fascinating and pleasant result.

Each form of media sculpture in traditional material is generated through mathematical algorithms based on big data indicators from the founding of the city to the present day.

In the New Year's Eve, we decided to make the form of these transformations festive, so now you can see interactive Christmas tree decorations, crystals and snowflakes on it.

The media sculpture and architectural media lighting of the complex is one of our favourite projects! And next year we will show something new in Cuba!
