About the project

Our team developed custom jellyfish glass lights at our glass-blowing workshop Optical Metaphor. Due to the low ceiling, the light sources are located very close to the glass plates. Therefore, to avoid light spots, we used optical systems with the widest possible optics and made the glasses opaque and diffusive.

We applied chemical and mechanical methods of processing glass, fusing glass granules of different fractions into it in order to make it opaque and allow for further diffusing light and removing glare.

More than 100 individually controllable addressable RGB groups were made by us to create scenarios of light waves behind glass due to the special custom software. Imitation of water moving on jellyfish is what creates a realistic effect of the sea of light.
