AN INVESTMENT IN THE FUTURE: FUTURE ARCHITECTS IN THE EXPOLIGHT OFFICE

We have been cooperating with various educational institutions for a long time, and it is very valuable and responsible for us to share our knowledge and experience with the younger generation and to be involved in shaping the future of lighting design in Ukraine.

This time, we received a request from the Ukrainian State University of Science and Technology (USUCT) to conduct theoretical and practical training for students of the Faculty of Architecture of USUCT.

Mykola Kabluka, the founder of Expolight and Kabluka Light & Digital Sculptures, together with the students spent two days of deep immersion in the world of lighting design: talking about the philosophy of our work, analyzing our completed projects and key solutions, exploring how light and shadow work, getting acquainted with different lighting equipment, and much more.

Theory is great, but practice is even better!

That's why after the lectures, the students went to our lighting laboratory, where they had an equally interesting practical block - experimental work in the white box, and then a presentation of their work.

The boys and girls had to recreate an atmospheric light phenomenon inspired by nature or art, using a variety of lighting equipment, as well as different optics, lenses, filters, and auxiliary materials.

It was nice to see how they consciously approached their work: they chose emotional and relevant topics, immersed themselves in the concept, built the idea from the main idea and technical implementation, and thought through each light accent. This is the approach that we appreciate and use in our own projects - when light doesn't just illuminate, but tells a story.

The final stage was a fascinating live discussion with the teachers as a jury, during which we analyzed the works very carefully from different angles.

But each team was really strong, so we couldn't help but recognize the advantages of each project. In the end, all participants received a prize regardless of the evaluation results, because they really proved themselves very well.
