Uspenska Square

The main ideas in the lighting of Uspenska Square:

- to show the passages to the river with caustic effects;
- to show the dynamics and connection of a large flow of people with the place;
- to show the connection between the place and culture.

The structure of the square resembles a composition of intertwined threads, and one of the ideas was to also show the "threads of people's movement" with light using media paving.

Moreover, we make these light lines interactive, which symbolises the influence and connection of people with the city. When a person enters the square, the motion sensor is triggered, and the light guides them along the path, responding to their steps.

We control the brightness, colour, and dynamics of the light to create the most comfortable atmosphere for people. The colour modes in the square's lighting are tied to the relevant holidays and events and change according to the calendar.

In addition to the square, we also created lighting for the façade of the cultural centre, fitting it into the philosophy and atmosphere of the square.

We installed oboe projectors on the playground, and now constellations float on the ground for kids to play with.

We installed adjustable luminaires with different optics on high poles to create natural shadows from selected beautiful branches and leaves, which we supplemented with artificial shadows thanks to our stencils. We created a comfortable and cosy atmosphere for people by placing hidden light below eye level, under the benches. All the luminaires on the square are custom-made by Expolight Instruments, a laboratory specially designed for the project.

All the lights are connected into a single flexible system that can be easily controlled and configured from anywhere in the world right from your laptop via our cloud service Expolight Cloud Control System.
